Brown Middle School Initiative

Brown Middle School (BMS) is committed to becoming a high performing learning community that insures that every student is well-prepared to thrive in a rigorous high school program.

With six academic teams, students are challenged to succeed. Great gains have been seen in their ADVANCED T-CAP scores. But, one elective was missing – Bible history.

A three-year, $25,000 matching challenge grant was received as seed money and Bible history was introduced for the 2006-07 school year. During this first year, 227 students elected a Bible history class. Because this was a new program, only Genesis was offered. For the 2007-08 school year, Exodus was added. The Life of Jesus will be introduced for 2008-09.

Though initial gifts were received to begin the BMS program, substantial new designated gifts are needed to sustain Bible history electives.
