Bible Program Improves Academic Performance
According to an independent study, literacy and vocabulary scores increase for students who elect Bible courses.

School Ministries, Inc., a non-profit organization in Columbia, South Carolina, engaged The National Council on Crime and Delinquency to do a comprehensive study of the Oakland, California, Released Time Bible study program. This study concluded that "Released time improves academic performance and builds a foundation for positive character development."

Bible in the Schools is not a Released Time Bible program where students receive religious education in a devotional way during the school day. Hamilton County public school students are offered the comprehensive elective, for-credit courses of Genesis, Exodus, The Life of Jesus, Old Testament Survey, and New Testament Survey. These courses are presented without promoting or denigrating any denomination or religion.
